Week of November 5th - 9th

Monday, November 5:  Academic Aspiration Day

Tuesday, November 6th: NO SCHOOL!!!

Thursday: Grandparents' Lunch and Bingo Night

Reading: This week in reading, students are reviewing the difference between first-person point of view and third-person point of view. We call this an author's narration style. For more information and a sample passage click here.

Math: This week in math, students are doing a mixed review of all the concepts we have covered for unit 2: multiplication using partial product and division using the Big 7.
The BIG PICTURE of what we want students to understand is that we can use what we know about multiplication to divide. We are continuing to support students in mastering their math facts so that they can apply these when working with larger numbers. In this way, they can successfully subtract large chunks when dividing. We are also reviewing the meanings of the words partial product, partial quotient, and remainder.

Friday: Unit 2 Post Test

Writing: After students finish revising and editing their opinion writing pieces this week, they will be pulling out their thesis and working to turn it into a persuasive thesis. This means they have to take themselves out of the equation and stating their thesis as a general statement about life.

Science: Finally, we will be wrapping up our Light unit this week by reviewing the difference between the 3 types of lenses: convex, concave, and prisms.
Students will bring home a study guide this week. They will have a science test the following week.
