Week of Dec 3-7

Announcements:

Students will be MAP testing during the afternoon hours on Tuesday and Wednesday December 4 and 5.

Timothy Road will be hosting clusters for all students starting in January. See the message below from Kisha Bailey and consider leading a cluster for students!

You are invited to join the Local School Governance Team and teachers of Timothy Road Elementary School as we implement EPIC Clusters. EPIC is the Emotional Prosperity in Children.

Please join us in leading a small group of children in an interest/hobby that you share.  We will match students to your group, and a classroom teacher will accompany and assist you. We will also purchase all materials needed for your cluster. The clusters will meet on Fridays from January 11 through March 1 for one hour.

If you are interested in leading an EPIC Cluster, please complete this brief interest survey.  https://goo.gl/forms/j5Sh5r4eqUvnGSz72
Thank you for your interest in our project!

With EPIC appreciation,

Kisha Bailey

Math: Students will learn how to convert units measurements. Students will do this with conversion charts and converting units of measurements word problems.

Sample problems:

To solve this conversion table students would complete the following steps:
1. 2 x 8 = 16 ounces
2. 3 x 8 = 24 ounces or 24/8 = 3
3. 5 x 8 = 40 or 40/8 = 5
4. 7 x 8 = 56

In this sample problem the students would need to complete the following steps:
1. 1 liter + 3 liters = 4 liters
2.  4 liters x 1,000 milliliters = 4,000 milliliters
3.  4,000 milliliters divided by 500 milliliters = 8
4. Answer the question: 8 students will get juice at snack.
