Week of December 17 - December 21

Important Dates:

Monday, December 17: ELA unit performance assessment
Tuesday, December 18: Math unit performance assessment
Wednesday, December 19: UGA basketball field trip
Thursday, December 20: Winter break celebration
 **Special note** There is no ASP 12/20

Reading: This week in reading students will complete their unit performance assessment. You can find sample questions here. Students will also read the Polar Express and compare the book to the movie.

Math: Students will review how to complete measurement conversions in real world problem. Students will take their unit performance assessment.

Here are sample problems that will be similar to what is on this test.




Writing: Students will complete an independent opinion writing sample. They will use the following criteria to complete their writing sample.

Social Studies: Students will complete an extension project during social studies. This project will focus on learning about the Bill of Rights and explaining what one of the amendments mean.

Week of December 10 - 14

Announcements:
Tuesday, December 11th - MAP Testing (Language)
Thursday, December 13th - Social Studies test (study guide will be sent home on Monday)

Reading: Students will work on explaining how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text.




Math: Students will begin learning about line plots and how to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8)

Sample Problem:

Grammar: In grammar, students will be learning about roots, prefixes, and suffixes. 


Writing: In writing, students will work on editing and publishing their final drafts of their persuasive pieces.


Social Studies: Students will be given a study guide on Monday to help them prepare for their test at the end of the week. Students will be learning about "We the People" and learning about a representative democracy/republic.
